Carcharodontosaurus (Carcha) – One of the Strongest Predators in ARK

What is Carcharodontosaurus?

Carcharodontosaurus, commonly known as Carcha, is one of the most powerful carnivores in ARK. After several balance updates, it has become the go-to choice for most PvE activities thanks to its incredible damage output, high mobility, and exceptional self-healing.

However, unlike the Giganotosaurus, Carcha reaches its full potential only after building up Bloodrage Stacks by killing wild creatures.

Strengths of Carcharodontosaurus

Exceptional Health Regeneration

Once Bloodrage Stacks are built up, Carcha can recover a significant amount of health while fighting. This allows players to stay in combat for extended periods without needing to stop and heal.

Massive Damage Output

Each Bloodrage Stack increases Carcha's damage, allowing it to deal devastating DPS once fully stacked. It can quickly eliminate even the largest creatures with ease.

Fast Movement Speed

Compared to the Giganotosaurus, Carcha is faster and feels much more agile. Its mobility makes traveling across the map, hunting creatures, and completing PvE content much more efficient.

Weaknesses

Carcha's biggest drawback is its reliance on Bloodrage Stacks.

When first deployed, Carcha is significantly weaker than its maximum potential. Players must kill wild creatures to build stacks before taking on more challenging content.

Because of this, Carcha is less effective in encounters where you need maximum damage immediately.

When Should You Use Carcha?

For the vast majority of PvE content, Carcha is the better choice thanks to its ability to continuously grow stronger throughout combat.

It excels in activities such as:

  • Defending Orbital Supply Drops (OSDs) – High damage, excellent sustain, and plenty of enemies to maintain Bloodrage Stacks.

  • Meat Runs – Fast movement and outstanding clearing speed make collecting large amounts of meat incredibly efficient.

  • Roaming – Great mobility makes exploring the map and hunting large creatures much easier.

  • Hunting Missions – The longer the fight lasts, the stronger Carcha becomes as it gains more stacks.

If your activity involves constantly fighting wild creatures, Carcha is almost always the superior option.

When Should You Use Giganotosaurus?

Although Carcha dominates most PvE scenarios, Giganotosaurus (Giga) still has its own niche.

Giga performs better in World Boss encounters, where immediate damage is more important than scaling over time.

Its advantages include:

  • No need to build Bloodrage Stacks.

  • Delivers maximum damage from the very beginning of the fight.

  • Better suited for boss encounters or short battles where there are no wild creatures available to build stacks.

Carcha vs. Giga – Which One Should You Choose?

If you can only invest in one creature for general PvE content, Carcharodontosaurus is the better overall choice.

Conclusion

Carcharodontosaurus is one of the strongest and most versatile creatures in ARK. With outstanding health regeneration, high damage output, and superior mobility, it outperforms Giganotosaurus in almost every PvE activity—as long as it has enough Bloodrage Stacks.

On the other hand, Giganotosaurus remains the preferred choice for World Boss fights, where dealing maximum damage from the very start is more valuable than building up stacks.

If your goal is farming, hunting, defending OSDs, or exploring the map, Carcha is generally the better pick. But if you're preparing for a World Boss encounter, Giga still holds the advantage thanks to its instant peak performance.
